I'm posting this in software section since there is no hardware category. There should be one! 🙂
Most people know about improving smartphone privacy on a software level by installing lineageos or another open source OS, but there is little talk about hardware. Having cameras, microphones and other sensors always connected is a huge attack vector. There are a few phones that have hardware kill switches - Pinephone and Librem 5, but both have serious downsides. Pinephone is inexpensive, but doesn't run android and Librem costs $1300.
Does anyone know better alternatives? Or DIY solutions like buying a regular smarphone and removing sensors easily? Or a 3rd party that is doing the removal and reselling the phones?
