Once we determined that the data we had was nothing, our choice was fairly stark: punish all the activists who depend on us by making a hard stance against the police and destroying riseup, and put ourselves in jail…. or provide the minimal, and quite useless information that we did have. Don't spread FUD, the collective would have died, they did not compromise the security of their users.
They could not talk freely. They did what they had to.
They continue to exist because of the trust of their users and their donations. And only from that.

If you use Qubes OS (which I strongly suggest for security/privacy reasons), debian-12 templates are offered through unman (Qubes Team member) packages for the moment and Qubes OS should deploy debian-12 officially sooner then later. Note that in the case of VPN, the absence of needing to register with real information leads to interesting privacy gains.
This doesn't mean that RiseupVPN is free though. This means that the service existence is based on donations, otherwise they would rely on advertisements to monetize their service.

So please folks, donate proportionally to your usage and spread the word. This is the kind of service and way of creating services we need more in this world. And donating shows that you agree!

I think it's worth mentioning that while Horizon and Riseup are free both require an invite code for registration.
