Hi I usually use Visual Studio Code and Open Source , you can remove the telemetry and it works without collecting data at when it seems Microsoft perfect to be able to modify Code to not collect data I have checked all over the PC if it collects data and it doesn't seem to happen, usually some folders like the user's own folder usually there are folders of programs with data collecting and sent and code is not there I use Windows 11 with all the data collection and customization part turned off.

Nukecraft5419 I understand you, but anyway, for my part, I would prefer to recommend VSCodium over VSCode for the same reason that I prefer to recommend LibreWolf over Firefox: It's simpler and more practical. Keep in mind that on our website we aim, as far as possible, to make it as easy as possible to access the best possible privacy, and configuring a program, in general terms, is not usually a simple task for a potentially uninformed user. Anyway, we appreciate your contribution, best regards.

Fox I understand, in fact I'm thinking of switching from Firefox to LibreWolf, I know that LibreWolf is much more secure only they don't even have a Twitter because I'd like to buy the project to make it even better while for Visual Studio Code that I think Microsoft would sell it for too much money at the moment for me.

Fox Yes I noticed that too bad I would immediately redo a nice design from 0 different from Firefox and all the ones on the market, but I wanted to know more about VsCodium I know that above Visual Studio Code you can remove the telemetry but the trackers I don't know if you can remove them so I would like to know more.

Fox You can also try to contact them through Matrix, but I insist, I don't think they will accept the proposal. There is also one more reason to avoid buying it: LibreWolf is ok, but it suffers from the same problems that Firefox suffers from. Improvable resource management, slow browsing speed compared to its competitors, a development far from the community requests and a developer (Mozilla) almost schizophrenic at present. I sincerely believe that there are currently only 3 options. In order from most to least possible/easy: 1st, develop a new browser based on efficient alternatives, such as chromium. 2nd, develop a powerful browser in some unexplored environment (Electron has some small example, but nothing big). And 3rd, buy Mozilla and bring it back on track.

Nukecraft5419 As for alternatives to Visual Studio Code, apart from VSCodium (which is the same program, but without tracking, so it does not count as a real alternative), there is not much good news either. The main hope was Atom, but Github announced its abandonment of the project in favor of VS Code. Another option could have been Brackets, but honestly, it receives few updates, and does not have the potential to currently replace VSCode. Microsoft, Mozilla and large corporations in general, are doing a lot of damage lately to open source and, consequently, to users' privacy.

Fox True, although LibreWolf has made many more strides than Mozilla with Firefox in terms of Security and Privacy only the problem and the speed of navigation and the burden in terms of resources.

Nukecraft5419 Small projects like LibreWolf are fine, because they give that little push that some programs need to go from good to great, but it's still a small project, dependent on a corporation that is messing with the base software. It's sad, but that's the way it is.

Fox True, in fact I use Visual Studio Code, but I don't know if just deactivating telemetry would really help. I find myself using Windows 11 because it's the best for programming and playing games and I've deactivated everything through settings without using programs and then I use NextDNS and Firefox brought to the maximum with some extensions. PrivacyTools has a Discord?
